Honda Snowblowers

Honda Power Equipment produces and markets a complete line of snowblowers for commercial and consumer applications. The comprehensive product line consists of 10 models in four separate series, ranging from 5 to 11 horsepower and capable of clearing from 46 tons to more than 70 tons of snow per hour. All models except the lightweight HS520 series are available with high-traction dual-track drive.

Honda snowblowers, like all Honda products, offer low emissions through the use of advanced four-stroke engine technology. The compact HS520 features a 5.0 horsepower overhead cam (OHC) engine, while other models are powered by overhead valve (OHV) engines delivering up to 11 horsepower. Automatic decompression is standard in all engines to ensure easy and reliable starting, even in extreme winter weather.

Honda snowblowers maintain the same standards of superior design, reliability, and quality of construction that customers have come to expect from the Honda brand. All models are designed and tested for ease of operation, even in arctic conditions and while wearing heavy gloves or mitts. They are constructed with plated fasteners and finished with extra-durable paint to ensure many years of service in extreme environments.

Honda's larger snowblowers employ a two-stage snow removal system with specially designed, heavy-duty, height-adjustable serrated augers to remove even the icy snow buildup often left by municipal snow plows. These models also offer single-lever hydrostatic transmissions that accurately adjust ground speed without affecting auger rotation speed. A single control panel operates the transmission, throttle and chute for simplified operation.

Honda's entry-level snowblowers feature easy starting Honda four-stroke engines, auger-assisted propulsion, and are available with a 120-volt electric starter. The HS520A with a manual starter weighs 76 pounds; the HS520AS with electric starter weighs 87.2 pounds. The HS520 series, with its 20-inch clearing width, is perfect for residential and light commercial applications and is capable of throwing up to 55 tons of snow per hour over distances of up to 26 feet.

Honda's lightest two-stage snowblower offers a 24-inch clearing width, a hydrostatic infinitely variable drive mechanism, and a 6.5 horsepower OHV engine that delivers 30 percent better fuel economy than typical side-valve engines. Like all of Honda's larger models, it features a remote control discharge chute with 210 degrees of horizontal and 70 degrees of vertical range and an easy to operate control panel. The HS724 is available in either wheel self-propelled or dual-track drive models. The wheel-driven HS724 WA clears up to 46.3 tons per hours; the dual-track HS724TA clears up to 50.7 tons per hour. Both models discharge snow up to 46 feet and are ideal for residential or commercial applications.

Powered by a high-torque 8.5-horsepower Honda overhead valve (OHV) engine, the HS928 series is intended for aggressive snow clearing in demanding environments. Like the HS724, the HS928 is available in both wheel-driven and dual-track, self-propelled models, but its greater power enables a 28-inch clearing width and a discharge distance of up to 49 feet. The HS928 also offers a choice of manual or electric starting.

Honda's solution for maximum capability in a walk-behind machine is the HS1132, clearing a 32-inch swath with its 11-horsepower commercial grade Honda four-stroke engine. The track-driven HS1132 can move 71.7 tons per hour at a discharge distance of up to 56 feet. Like the HS928, the HS1132 is available in both easy-starting manual or electric starter-equipped models. Core Sensor From MTS Offers Three-Wire Option To Seal Out Wet Environments

MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division has enhanced its C-Series Core Sensor by adding a three-wire option that provides manufacturers with additional design alternatives in wet environments. Standard C-Series sensors include a connector in the electronics housing to attach a mating-connector equipped cable. In a wet environment, cables can wick water or other liquids down the inside of the cable jacket if a more expensive sealed cable is not used or the other end of the cable jacket is exposed. MTS Sensors offers an alternative to high-cost sealed cables by replacing the connector and cover with three discrete wires that allow sealing against the wire insulation instead of a cable jacket. A simple grommet can then be used to provide tight water sealing.

“The Core sensor was designed as a low-cost, high-performance linear position sensor that could be used in a variety of applications,” said Jesse Russell, commercial products marketing manager for MTS. “The three-wire design replicates a proven method of sealing from the automotive and marine industries.”

Designed as the world’s smallest magnetostrictive linear position sensor, the C-Series is built upon a base Core sensor, to which application-specific moderations can be added. The three-wire option increases the functionality of the C-Series by enabling it to be used as an embedded, and therefore lower cost, alternative to sensors with connectors in liquid or vapor laden environments such as medical devices, small cutting/fastening/forming tools, and various consumer outdoor-use products.

The C-Series Core sensor has a 0V to 5Vdc or PWM output available, and can be powered with a standard 5V power supply. In addition, the modular architecture allows the addition of a second electronics board that configures the sensor to operate using 12V power and also adds additional protection circuitry for higher EMI immunity. The optional board was designed to optimize the C-Series sensor performance in many mobile machine applications, including agricultural, marine and construction equipment.

For more information about C-Series sensors, contact Jesse Russell, MTS Sensors Division, at 919-677-2314, or email jesse.russell@mts.com; or visit the MTS Sensors website at http://www.mtssensors.com.

MTS Systems Corporation is the world leader in magnetostrictive linear-position and liquid-level sensor technology. MTS Systems Corporation is a global operation, with facilities in the U.S., Germany and Japan. In the U.S., the MTS Sensors Division has an ISO 9001 facility manufacturing rugged and reliable Temposonics position and liquid-level sensors.
