New Hybridyne™ Test Systems For Hybrid Vehicle Drivetrains

SAKOR Technologies, Inc., a recognized leader in the area of test automation and systems integration, announces the launch of its newest product line, the HybriDyne™ Series of hybrid vehicle driveline test systems.  Combining SAKOR’s core capabilities in both combustion engine and electric motor testing, the HybriDyne is a comprehensive test solution for calibrating the performance, efficiency, and durability of all aspects of hybrid drivetrain systems, including electrical assist, diesel electric, and even fully-electric vehicle systems.

The HybriDyne system itself is a true hybrid, seamlessly integrating major components of SAKOR’s DynoLAB™ PT Engine Test Cell Supervisory System with elements of its DynoLAB™ EM Electric Motor Test System.  Coupled with one or more of SAKOR’s AccuDyne™ AC Motoring Dynamometers, the modular HybriDyne is capable of thoroughly testing individual mechanical and/or electrical components, integrated sub-assemblies and complete drive-trains with a single installation.

The HybriDyne system is capable of simultaneously determining the performance and efficiency of each component and sub-system being tested, as well as the entire system as a whole, in real-time. The mechanical control and data acquisition components of the HybriDyne manage and monitor all engine and mechanical system functions, while the electrical subsystem monitors and controls all electrical values from low voltage control as well as high voltage DC and three-phase AC busses.  The inherent dynamic profile capabilities of the DynoLAB provide for traditional steady-state testing, as well as complete road load and in-use simulation as customer requirements dictate.

Improved Inductive Encoders from Heidenhain Offer Better Control Performance

Due to improvements on the ECI/EQI 1300 series of inductive rotary encoders from HEIDENHAIN Corporation, a 19-bit singleturn resolution version is now offered, providing better machine control performance than ever before.  This is a result of the addition of a new ASIC being implemented in 2008 on these encoders first introduced to the market about 10 years ago.

Because of these improvements, this ECI/EQI series also offers a multiturn encoder with a resolution of 31 bits.

Typical applications of these types of rotary encoders are in servo applications.

More information is available by contacting HEIDENHAIN at (847) 490-1191 or HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION, 333 E. State Parkway, Schaumburg, IL  60173.  HEIDENHAIN can also be accessed directly via the web site at www.heidenhain.com or e-mail at info@heidenhain.com.

HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION is the North American subsidiary of DR. JOHANNES HEIDENHAIN GmbH, a leading international manufacturer of precision measurement and control equipment.  Our product line includes linear scales, rotary and angular encoders, digital readouts, digital length gages, CNC controls and machine inspection equipment.

Genie Redesigns Its GTH1048 and GTH1056 Telehandlers to Maximize Efficiency

Genie redesigned its GTH™-1048 and GTH™-1056 rough terrain telehandlers to easily maneuver in tight spaces without compromising reach and lift capacity. Whether they are needed to lift or set materials around a worksite, both are ideal machines for moving heavy loads, like steel and bricks, with a maximum lift capacity up to 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg). The GTH-1048 has 31 ft (9.45 m) of outreach and is capable of lifting 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) to 48 ft (14.63 m) and the GTH-1056 features an outreach of 40 ft (12.19 m) and lifts 4,000 lbs (1,814 kg) to 56 ft (17.07 m).

“Our goal was to optimize the design to provide a simple, reliable and versatile machine for our customers,” says Luke Webber, Genie Telehandler product manager. “With the redesign, these units offer contractors improved load carrying capacity for higher utilization rates, as well as a revamped quick attach system, which allows for more interchange of attachments between models and brands. The GTH-1048 and GTH-1056 models are ideal for framing, heavy construction, masonry and industrial applications.”

With an outside turning radius of just under 14 ft (4.2 m) and three different steering modes — crab, coordinated and front wheel — the GTH-1048 and GTH-1056 come standard with a multitude of features that allow easy maneuverability around tight job sites. Both offer the choice of a turbo-charged, 4-cylinder Perkins or John Deere diesel engine, and both feature standard 4-wheel drive. With twin axle-mounted stabilizers, as well as a frame-leveling chassis, operators can make side-to-side adjustments on up to 10° side slopes. Terrainability is also enhanced on these units with a 20.5 in (0.52 m) break-over ground clearance, which allows operators to position the machine precisely where it is needed to work.

The GTH-1048 and GTH-1056 are designed with simple, logical controls that respond to an operator’s every command. The single, multi-function joystick comes with an integrated sway control that allows operators to control the boom and level the chassis without taking a hand off the joystick.

Genie engineered the new GTH-1048 and GTH-1056 models with spacious, ergonomically designed cabs. Both units feature an adjustable suspension seat with standard retractable 3-in seat belt, easy-to-access controls for operator comfort and productivity and offer an optional enclosed cab with flat glass windows for enhanced visibility.

Most of the components are interchangeable and common across Genie’s entire rough terrain telehandler line, so service centers are able to stock fewer parts and technicians are able to apply existing maintenance knowledge. Service has also been made easier with no-tool access to all the daily inspection points. Additionally, test ports are conveniently located at the manifolds and one person can easily check the hydraulic functions from the comfort of the cab.

About Genie
