Komatsu America Corp. Introduces the WA1200-6 Wheel Loader

WA1200-6 Wheel LoaderKomatsu America Corp. (KAC) today introduced its new WA1200-6 Wheel Loader for use in mining applications. Based on extensive customer input and feedback, the new loader includes environmental, technological and ergonomic enhancements for even greater productivity, while lowering operating costs.

The new WA1200-6 is powered by a highly-efficient Komatsu SAADA16V160E-2 engine that delivers 1892 Gross HP at 1800 RPM. With an operating weight of 477,100 lbs., the new loader offers increased fuel efficiency, while meeting all EPA Tier 2 emissions requirements.

Special features of the WA1200-6 include:

  • Productivity Performance: The engine net output of the WA1200-6 has been increased by 132 HP to 1765 HP at 1800 RPM.  The use of an electronic governor results in low fuel consumption, with quick throttle response to match the machine’s powerful tractive effort and fast hydraulic response. The new dual-mode active working hydraulic system allows the operator to select between normal and powerful loading, while the optimum oil flow in the working system increases efficiency and reduces cycle times. Increased engine output and the optimized hydraulic system provide outstanding production and performance.
  • Operator Enhancements: The engine RPM control system with auto deceleration allows the operator to set the engine RPM at the optimum work performance level and control speed smoothly with the accelerator. The variable transmission cut-off system for the left brake pedal is adjustable by a switch at the operator’s seat.  When loading, the low setting reduces brake impact to prevent spillage, while the high setting can be used for traveling.
  • Improved Reliability and Durability: An additional torque converter cooler was added as standard equipment to reduce oil temperature and increase cooling capacity.  For hydraulic cooling, a new pump with increased oil capacity was added and the circulation was revised to lower oil temperature. Two additional air cleaners were added and the size of the elements increased to 15 inches for more capacity.

Komatsu America Corp. is a U.S. subsidiary of Komatsu Ltd., which is the world’s second largest manufacturer and supplier of construction, mining and compact construction equipment. Komatsu America also serves forklift and forestry markets. Through its distributor network, Komatsu offers a state-of-the-art parts and service program to support the equipment. New Leica Powerdigger Lite Guidance System Increases Machine Productivity For Backhoes and Mini Excavators

Leica PowerDigger Lite, its new entry-level single- slope guidance system Leica Geosystems releases Leica PowerDigger Lite, its new entry-level single- slope guidance system for all types of excavators.  PowerDigger Lite is easy to use, economical, and answers the needs of contractors looking for an entry level machine control system.

Designed with single slope applications in mind, PowerDigger Lite is ideal for mini excavators and backhoes. It increases machine productivity by eliminating stakes over-excavations.

Leica PowerDigger Lite is the newest addition to the PowerDigger line -- the result of 12 years market-leading experience with excavator guidance systems. With PowerDigger Lite you have the flexibility to work from different references including the existing surface, hub, stringline, or laser reference, and you can offset your reference surface.

The system, based on the well-known and reliable PowerDigger hardware platform, is targeted at single slope applications such as trenching, grading and pipe-laying, and can be mounted on any excavator.  The PowerDigger Lite is 100% waterproof, so no special sensors or cables are needed for underwater use.

Easy-to-use Machine Control

Quickly installed, PowerDigger Lite’s heart is the rugged control panel with a full-color 3.5-inch graphical display, enabling accurate single slope and depth control. The simple menu structure provides an intuitive user interface for quick learning and increased productivity.

All functions are logically placed for straight forward operation. To start work, operators simply choose a height reference and enter the desired slope; both are presented on the graphical display. Final grade and the offset from the bucket edge are also displayed on your screen.

High productivity in many applications

Leica PowerDigger Lite offers basic functions for single slope standard applications. It can be used for foundations, embankments, pipe trenches, grading, and even for underwater work, as the user can always see the bucket position relative to target grade on your display.  By eliminating over-excavation and working faster, contractors will save time, money, fuel and materials costs.

Unique safety features

Leica PowerDigger Lite also removes the need for grade checking increasing safety on busy construction sites. Additionally, when working in potentially dangerous areas such as under bridges and power lines or inside buildings, the operator can preset a maximum working height or depth and be warned when the excavator arm or bucket reaches the critical height. Leica PowerDigger Lite also features the unique integrated buried service detection warning. An EZiDIG cable detection sensor can be interfaced directly to the PowerDigger CAN connection. The operator will be alerted of buried services while digging by an audio alarm and a multi-level bar on the PowerDigger Lite display.

Availability

Leica PowerDigger Lite is available now through all authorized Leica Geosystems’ Machine Control Dealers. For more information, go to www.leica-geosystems.us/machinecontrol.

PowerDigger Lite is an easy-to-use, economic control system that perfectly meets the needs of contractors looking for entry-level machine control systems. Being designed for single slope applications, PowerDigger Lite is ideal for mini excavators and backhoes.

SKF® Energy-Efficient Ball Bearings for Electric Motors Exhibit Less Friction and Consume Less Energy

SKF® energy-efficient ball bearings SKF® energy-efficient ball bearings for electric motors introduce ideal alternatives to standard bearings by generating significantly less friction and subsequently reducing energy consumption. These deep groove ball bearings join a growing family of SKF energy-efficient bearing solutions engineered for a wide range of applications.

The bearings exhibit 30% to 50% lower friction compared with conventional types and benefit from an optimized design balance between highly engineered internal geometries, grease, and bearing cages. They perform in combination with a special SKF energy-efficient grease developed exclusively for all SKF energy-efficient bearing types.

In addition to reducing friction and energy consumption, these bearings promote smooth-running performance and generate less noise and less heat. Extended bearing service life up to double the ISO calculated life can be realized.

The bearings comply dimensionally with ISO 15:1998 in a range of selected sizes off-the-shelf to allow for interchangeability within existing design envelopes without requiring any equipment redesigns. They can be specified for electric motors up to 37kW (50hp) with shaft diameters up to 60mm. Custom solutions can be developed to satisfy particular application needs.

Tridak® Releases New Diaphragm Valves for Reactive Fluids

Tridak Model 475 Diaphragm Valve

Tridak Model 475 Diaphragm Valve

The new Tridak Model 475 Series diaphragm valves are designed to be used with low-to-medium viscosity fluids. The internal design of these dispensing valves prevent fluid contact with the actuating components, making them ideal for use with reactive fluids such as cyanoacrylates and solvent-based adhesives and coatings.  Minimal valve maintenance is required which reduces costs associated with spare parts and production down-time.

Tridak’s diaphragm valves offer stroke adjustment to precisely dial-in the desired shot volume for consistent and repeatable performance.  The Model 475 is available in three configurations:

  • Standard Model 475 dispensing valve features an UHMW polyethylene diaphragm, acetyl copolymer fluid body, and hard-coated aluminum air cylinder body.
  • Model 475-T valve is similar to the standard Model 475 except that it features a Teflon® diaphragm and fluid body with a hard-coated aluminum air cylinder body.
  • Model 475-SA valve incorporates an UHMW polyethylene diaphragm, passivated stainless steel fluid body, and hard-coated aluminum air cylinder body.

The different configurations of the valve allow it to be compatible with any number of materials. All three configurations of the Model 475 are actuated using the Tridak Model 345 valve controller.

Tridak specializes in fluid dispensing technology. It manufactures a complete line of precision dispense valves, electro-pneumatic dispensers and controllers, disposable packaging, and complete dispensing and filling systems for industrial assembly and packaging.
